He had twenty children by three wives. His wives were: Sinah Harper, Martha Rich and Hannah Howard. James Simpson Bain Sr. mother was Margreth P. Andrew and she and Alexander were married 1-7-1801 in North Carolina. Rumor has it that James's father Alexander married a Peggy Farr aboard ship coming from the old country but this has been agreed on by my research circles that it was more than likely Alexander's Uncle that married a Peggy Farr. There were Pharr's that lived among the Bain family in Cabarrus County, NC as they married into them.
