Services for Ruth Lorene Alexander, 77, formerly of Diboll, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Walker Cemetery.

Mrs. Alexander was born November 27, 1922, in Van Zandt County, Texas, and she died Sunday, July 2, 2000, in Athens, Texas, where she had been living with a daughter.

Mrs. Alexander was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid cook and hostess, and the owner of Ruth's Cafe in Woodlake. She was also a retired waitress for Bostick's Cafe. Mrs. Alexander was a Baptist. Formerly a resident of La Marque for 10 years, she had been a resident of Diboll for 19 years.

Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Alexander, on December 4, 1999. They were married on July 4, 1952, and would have celebrated 48 years of marriage today.
