William S.H. Griner served in the Indian War of 1836.He was a member of Emmeus (Flat Creek) Primitive Baptist Church where he served as church clerk 1847-1857. He was excluded in July 1865, while his wife was united with the same church in May 1867, remaining a member until her death in about 1875. They were buried in the family cemetery on the east side of Willacoochee Creek.
