George William Adcock was born at Eldon, March 17, 1873, and passed away at his home there August 2, 1944, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 15 days. He was the son of Wesley and Sally Agee Adcock. He was married to Lula Jane Shackleford August 21, 1904, and to this union four sons were born. Twin boys passed away in infancy.

During his early manhood he was engaged in farming near Eldon and in 1918 he went to work in the Rock Island yards as fire builder and fire chief. He held this position until his retirement in 1937. Mr. Adcock had been in failing health for the past few years but was confined to his bed for only a week before his death.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lula Adcock, of Eldon; two sons, Hally Adcock of Kansas City and Herschel Adcock of Los Angeles, Calif.; one grandson, Billy Adcock of Kansas City; and one brother, Tom Adcock of Benton, Ill.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon. Rev. A.L. Alexander conducted the service. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
