SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. VIOLA SALISBURY--Funeral services were held on Friday, July 12 at 10:00 A. M., from the Presbyterian Church at Stapleton for Mrs. Viola Salisbury who died Tuesday, July 9, at North Platte, Nebr. Rev. Edward Holub officiated at the services. Mrs. Fred Border and Mrs. Edward Holub sang "God Understands" and "What a Friend we have in Jesus" accompanied by Mrs. Laron Wright at the organ. Honorary pall bearers were: O. E. Abrams, Kelly Ambler, Bobert Baskin, George Bay, E. W. Glandon, C. V. Greenslit, Raleigh Reynolds and George Smith. Active pallbearers were: Leonar Bassett, A. L. Brown, Francis Brown, R.R. Brown, Barrel Ready, and H.E. Scollin. Interment was in the McCain Cemetery. Mary Viola Salisbury, daughter of William and Mary Brown was born August 9, 1882 in Antelope Co, Nebraska and died in North Platte, Nebraska on July 9, 1963 at the age of 80 years and 11 months. In 1890 she came to Logan County and it was home to her for the rest of her life. At the age of 12 years she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized in the Bismal River. On November 25, 1906 she was married to Ed Salisbury, and three children were born to them. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 5, 1957. Mrs. Salisbury was the last of her family having preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Grace Ambler and two sons: Wllace and Wayne, all of Stapleton, six grandchilren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Salisbury was a member of the Gandy Methodist Church and later transferring her membership to the Presbyterian Church in Stapleton. Mrs. salisbury was a faithful attendant in Sunday School and had been a teacher in former years. She was an ative worker in the Women's Association. She was the teacher at the Red Brick School for two years prior to her marriage. For many years she belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the Friendly Etension Club at the time of her death. Mrs. Salisbury enjoyed sewing and found staisfaction in making clothing for the Nebraska Children's Home. As recenttly as last winter they had received several packages from her. As a pioeer settler of the sandhill, Mrs. Salisbury endured many hardships during her early days.
