Funeral services for Iva P. Sherrill, 99, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Chris Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at McCoy Funeral Home.

Sherrill died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at her home.

She was born March 3, 1911, in Crowell, Texas. She married James B. LaRue July 17, 1929, in Fredrick, Okla. and Hardee A. Sherrill in 1967 in Sweetwater.

She moved to Sweetwater from Crowell in 1936. Iva worked for Sears from 1942 until 1969. She graduated from Crowell High School. She converted at age 11 and was a member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for 58 years. She was active in one act plays during her school years. She was also a member of Texas Extension Home Makers, the Highland Garden Club, AARP and SNAP.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Devin LaRue and wife Kim of Sweetwater, Kristin Chaney of Kerrrville, Alecia LaRue and husband Dennis Birchell of Big Timber, Montana and Erin Thompson and husband Mike of Livingston, Montana; nine great-grandchildren, Misti Jolley of Hurst, Casey LaRue of Abilene, Josh and Seth LaRue of Sweetwater, Teslin Chaney of Kerrville, Rankin and LaRue Seitz of Livingston, Montana and Truman, Gus and Henry Thompson of Livingston, Montana; three great-great-grandchildren, Aidan and Kensi Jolley of Hurst and Laynie LaRue of Sweetwater; and two nephews, Gause and Tex Smith of Mullins, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1963; her second husband in 1983; a son, Jimmie Bartell LaRue in 1990; and a sister, Jewell Sallis.

Pallbearers will be Doug Taylor, Rusty Allen, Don Hatter, Ronnie Jackson, Brandon Covington and Joshua LaRue.
