Arthur was the son of Alfred Sutphen and Martha Frisbee Waterhouse Temple. He married Delia Eleanor Salzer on August 1, 1905 in Rochester, Monore Co., NY. To this union were born 3 children: Shirley Ruth, Thelma Olive and Leland Arthur John.
