Born near Swan, Texas is buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Swan, Texas. He married OMA DEE BARNETT in 1939. She was born 30 April 1906 in Enterprize, Oklahoma in Indian Territory.

Clifford was employed for several years by the Illinois Terminal Railroad Company as trainman and ran locomotives about 8 years on the Electrified Division of the Illinois Terminal Railroad between Peoria and St. Louis, Missouri. He resigned in 1935 and went to California. He was employed by Union Pacific Railroad and Southern Pacific Company during World War II as a telegrapher. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 7 May 1917 and served until 2 April 1919.

Following his retirement, Clifford and Oma toured the United States in a travel trailer visiting many of the Binghams living at the time. He took many pictures and wrote a partial history of the Binghams as descended from James Bingham. Much of his work has been incorporated in the family history book Descendants of James Bingham of County Down, Northern Ireland by Barry Bingham.
