FOSTER PAUL COX

Foster COX, 79, died Monday, January 11, 1999 at Hendrick Medical Center after a 12 -1/2 year battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, at Hillcrest Church of Christ with David WRAY, Dwight ROBARTS, Mike COPE, and Mid McKNIGHT officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Foster was born in Seymour, Texas, on February 3, 1919. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1937, and came to Abilene to attend business school.

In 1939, he married his high school sweetheart, Lotella EDDLEMON in Abilene. They had lived in Abilene all of their married lives except for two years while Foster served with the Army Engineers during World War II in Guam.

Foster became a Christian at a very early age and had always been active in the church. He served as deacon and elder at Highland Church of Christ. He loved people, and he loved life. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, known for his love of God, his family, and caring for others.
Most of his years, he was a building contractor and a skilled carpenter. For two years he was a building inspector for the City of Abilene. Foster and Lotella were the owners and directors of Abilene Kindergarten and Dyess Kindergarten for over 20 years. He loved traveling and camping, and was a member of Good Sam Travel Club for 8 years. His love of life, intelligence, and creativity were evident in his joy of people. He was a servant, always ready to help and work for family, friends, and anyone in need.
He preceded in death by a son, Gary COX.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; his son, Keith COX and wife, Donna; two daughters, Paula FRY and husband, Mark, and Janet ARDOYNO and husband, David; seven grandchildren, Dedra BACA and Marla COX, Lynn COX and Ginger HAFER, and Justin, Jonathan, and Emily ARDOYNO; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Chester COX and several nieces and nephews. He was a loving foster father to James and Betty SLAUGHTER.

The family expresses appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Victor HIRSCH and Dr. Lawrence HARDWICKE, and their dedicated staffs for their love and devotion.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home, 542 Hickory.
