THEODOSIA HARTLEY DYER ... Theodosia Hartley, youngest daughter of Theodosia and Henry Hartley, was born September 6, 1885, in Wayne County, Iowa, and passed away December 8, 1961, at the Corydon rest home at the age of 76 years, 3 months, 2 days.

Dosia, as she was always called, moved from a farm in Clinton Township, to Allerton in 1892, where she completed her education and graduated from the Allerton High School in the class of 1903.

She joined the Allerton Methodist Church at an early age and remained an active member as long as her health permitted.

Dosia taught in rural schools of Wayne County for ten years and engaged in various other businesses until about two years before her death.

She was united in marriage to Fred H. Ripper on September 10, 1933. Four years later Mr. Ripper passed away. In August of 1940 she married William Dyer, who passed away in 1954. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mrs. Ethel Albertson of Seymour.

Mrs. Dyer is survived by the following stepchildren: Mrs. Gladys Rollins of Allerton, Wayne Dyer also of Allerton, Mrs. Madonna Fleming and Melvin Dyer of Chariton, and Gerald Dyer of Des Moines. Tow nieces, Mrs. Ruth Patterson of Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Mary Curnulain of Detroit, Mich. Two nephews, Ernest Gilbertson of Phoenix, Ariz. and Frank Albertson of Seymour. Also surviving are several step-grandchildren and several grand nieces and grand nephews.

Throughout her life, Dosia was a devoted daughter, wife and stepmother and will be sadly missed by all of her relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. December 10, 1961, at the Randolph Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Ball officiating, with burial in the Allerton Cemetery.
