Professional Football Player. For twelve seasons (1953 to 1964), he played at the linebacker position in the National Football League with the Baltimore Colts. He attended Ramsey High School in New Jersey. Following graduation, he served with the United States Navy with who he was stationed in Panama during the closing months of World War II. Following his return home, he played collegiate football at Defiance College in Ohio and later Rutgers University. Signed by Baltimore as a non-drafted player, he totaled 141 career regular season games and was a component of a linebacking core of which included Don Shinnick and Leo Sanford. He was a key member of two NFL Championship teams (1958 and 1959 Colts) of which included the Colts squad who defeated the New York Giants in overtime in the 1958 Title Game known as “The Greatest Game Ever Played”. He retired in 1964 after the Colts appearance in the title game against the Cleveland Browns. Following his football career, he owned and operated a restaurant in the Baltimore-area. He died from respiratory failure, a complication from Alzheimer’s disease.
