Mark Dennis Hester, 60, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 14, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and with a rich appreciation of his family's love for him.

He was born March 3, 1950 in Los Angeles, California, to Delva and Ollie Hester. Mark grew up in Los Angeles where he was raised by his mom, attended school, and became the proud father of two sons.

In 1990, Mark, his son, Mark (aka Denny), and mother moved to Idaho Falls where he lived the remainder of his life.

Mark was an avid reader and it was not uncommon for him to read one or two books a week. His passion was suspense novels. He was a mainstay at the Idaho Falls Public Library. His reading and thirst for information made him a natural for game shows like Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, and other mind challenging games. He actually made it to the third round of qualifying as a Jeopardy contestant.

He played several sports recreationally and was an enthusiastic sports fan. He loved to watch just about any sport on TV with a special appreciation for NASCAR and what he termed as "his Lakers."

Mark and his mom raised his son, Denny, who was the jewel of his life. A couple of years ago he experienced an unexpected treasure when he was reunited with his other son also named Mark. They quickly built a strong bond and love for each other in their short time together.

During the past two years Mark's primary responsibility was to provide daily care and love for his mom. His ability to provide this caring support for his mom was truly satisfying to both Mark and his mom.

Mark is survived by his mother, Delva Hester, of Idaho Falls; his two sons, Mark and Mark (Danielle), both of Los Angeles; two grandchildren, Lincoln and Jaida; three siblings, Ollie, of Seattle, Candy, of Los Angeles, and Oren (Shauna), of Idaho Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

At Mark's request no services will be held. A private family service will be held. The family thanks all the friends who have expressed their condolences.

Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com
