Mrs. Berta Spence, 83, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday at her home on Route 1, Diamond. She had been ill for a year and a half. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Knell mortuary.
Mrs. Spence was born June 17, 1871, in the Scotland community, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Burgess Benschoter. She was a member of the Liberty Grove church.
Surviving are two children, Lynwood Spence, Route 1, Diamond, and Mrs. Una E. Haines of Evansville, Ind., and several nieces and nephews.
