She was the daughter of a US Army family, her father had retired with the rank of Colonel, and had moved often from military base to base. At Princeton, she earned her commission through ROTC, with a four year scholarship. She was founder and captain of the school's Cheerleading Squad, and was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" by her high school class. She was newly commissioned and assigned to temporary duty at Fort Bragg, when she was murdered in the hallway of her dorm, Hardy Hall, a dormitory for officers and senior soldiers attending schools at Fort Bragg.
