MARINE CPL. WILLIAM LESLIE KINZER

Funeral services for Marine Cpl. William Leslie Kinzer, who was Killed In Action on Iwo Jima February 24, 1945, will be held at 4 p. m. Wednesday at the Weiland Funeral Church, 2909 Live Oak.

The Rev. Timothy W. Guthrie, pastor of St. John's Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.

Born in Tennessee, Kinzer was living in Dallas at the time of his enlistment in the Marine Corps. He was employed by Sanger Bros.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lula M. Kinzer, 411 Paulus; a sister, Mrs. T. P. Ball; and a brother, George Davis Kinzer, all of Dallas.

Pallbearers will be Neil Norris, Jack Mitchell, Marvin Lillard, Tom Steely, James Culwell, and Harold Butler.

CPL WILLIAM LESLIE KINZER, son of Mrs. Lula May Kinzer, was born February 22, 1919. Attended school in Drew and Leland, Miss. Volunteered for service Sept. 19, 1942 at Dallas, Texas, assigned to the US Marines, 4th Division, and trained at Camp Pendleton. Served overseas from Feb. 1944 to Feb. 1945, on the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Marianas Islands Tinian, and Iwo Jima. He was the second son of Mrs. Kinzer to pay the Supreme Sacrifice. He was Killed In Action February 24, 1945 on Iwo Jima.

HIS BROTHER:

PVT. ROBERT M. KINZER was born Sept. 6, 1915, son of Mrs. Lula May Kinzer. Entered service Jan. 1943 and was assigned to Army Air Corps, 853rd Engr. Bn. Served overseas from Oct. 1943 to Feb. 1944 in European-African Theater. Was on the British Ship Rhona when it sank while en route to India, Nov. 1943; was wounded on hands, left leg, and back by torpedo blast. After being discharged May, 1944, he paid the Supreme Sacrifice from these wounds.
