Graduated from Barberton High School. Loved hunting, fishing, crafts, and horses. Moved to Guernsey County with her family in 1965. Enjoyed visiting family and friends. Was a really great cook!

Obituary: Services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christian Family Assembly Chestnut Hill Church in Freeport for Betty Jean Getz, 66 of 20904 Titus Road, Freeport, who died Sunday (April 4, 1993) at Park Medical Center, Columbus.

The Rev Carl Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery. No visitation will be observed.

Mrs. Getz was born October 27, 1926, at Barberton, daughter of the late Harry and Edith Skinner White. She was a member of Christian Family Assembly Chestnut Hill Church, a past 4-H Advisor, a 4-H council member and member of Birmingham Homemakers Extension Club.

She leaves her husband, Melvin Getz, whom she married July 24, 1950 (Melvin later passed in 2009); two sons, David Getz of Tampa, Fla. and Edmond Getz of Detroit, Mich; three daughters, Margie Grimes (Gary)of Byesville, Jeanette Cameron (Nelson) who later passed in 1997)and Laura Wayble (Dale) of Freeport; a brother Jack White (Marcella) of Florida (both have passed, a sister Martha Gallatin of Barberton (who later passed), nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc, Cambridge.
