In July of 1941 he entered the service of his country and served in the United States army for a period of more than four years. A portion of this time was spent in the European Theater of World War II.
On September 13, 1946 he was united in marriage to Marvine Anna Ford. To this union was born two children.
In August 1956 he, with his family, moved to Seattle, Washington.
In 1953 he became a member of the First Methodist Church of Frankfort and has retained his membership there. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Rainier, Post 2289, the American Legion Post of Burlen, and the Skookum Archery Association.
