Funeral Services This Afternoon 4 O'clock at Home, 613 South Tryon Street.
Dr. James Farris Robertson, one of the most prominent of Charlotte's older citizens, was found dead in bed by his wife Sunday morning about 9 o'clock, evidently the victim of a heart attack. Dr. Robertson would have been 80 years old in June.
Funeral services will be held at the home, 613 South Tryon street, this afternoon at 4 o'clock, with Dr. Albert Sidney Johnson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, in charge.
WITH MASONIC RITES.
The burial will be in Elmwood cemetery and the Masonic ritual will be conducted by Phalanx lodge, of which he was a member.
Active pallbearers will be the deacons of the church. Honorary pallbearers named are W. H. Twitty, John M. Scott, Dr. Alexander Graham, Jesse Chambers, Dr. William A. Graham, Baxter Davidson and William Colvert.
FROM VIRGINIA.
Dr. Robertson had lived here for the past 35 years, after having come to Charlotte from Virginia. He was prominently connected in fraternal, social and business circles, and was a deacon of the First Presbyterian church. His Masonic connections included membership in Plalanx lodge, the Knights Templar, Scottish Rite and the Oasis temple of the shrine, of which he was a past potentate and president of the Masonic temple association. Dr. Robertson was also vice president of the Charlotte National bank and had maintained an active interest in its affairs up until his death.
He had been married twice. His first wife was Miss Mary Graham, who died here in 1918. The second wife, Mrs. Ella Turner Nicholson Robertson, survives him. Four daughters, one son and a stepson and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. The daughters are Mrs. Eugene B. Graham, Mrs. S. B. Alexander, Mrs. C. S. Alston and Mrs. Harvey W. Moore, all of Charlotte and Dr. J. F. Robertson, Jr., of Wilmington. The stepson is George Noel Nicholson.
