George Delmar Haws, 84, of Orem, Utah passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2004.

He was born May 11, 1919 in Mesa, Arizona to James William and Ina Paulina Despain Haws.

The family moved to Provo, Utah where he graduated from Provo High School.

He served in the Navy attached to the Marines during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He married Lorna Virginia Barney on February 9, 1944 in Los Angeles, California. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on December 10, 1945.

He worked as a fireman then he went into sales for McKesson & Robbins Pharmaceutical Co., Helms Bakery, then for various insurance companies.

He also worked for the LDS Church as a Physical Facilities Supervisor. He was a Boy Scout Master which he enjoyed very much. He loved fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He was a hard worker.

Dell served as a Stake Missionary, was in several Bishoprics, a member of the High Council and served others his whole life. He and his wife, Lorna, served a mission at the Provo Tabernacle.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna, two sons and five daughters: Terry D. (Melanie) Haws, Virginia (Woody) Brison, Judy (Terry) Kitchen, Peggy (Randy) Johns, Cindy (D.J.) Myrup, Gary W. (Wendy) Haws, Christy (Wayne) Larsen, Dawna Haws, 32 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren with five on the way and three brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Aspen 2nd Ward Chapel, 1485 North 800 West, Orem, Utah.

A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and at the Church on Monday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to service.

Interment will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
