Valentin Dominguez Will Be Missed
"A Cherished friend has ridden over the Great Divide and gone on to those greener pastures he so richly deserves." Stated by Gene Simon a newspaper reporter and friend.
Valentin worked with cattle all his life, some said it began as soon as he could walk. Valentin lived his whole life on the Mimbres. His own ranch just a few miles from where he was born, where his ancestors lived there long before. His grandfather rode in with the Texas Rangers and
fought Apaches. It was here that the first Valentin carved out s life that would remain the Dominguez life style, for his children and for his childrens children. Valentin was
proud of that heritage, wearing the Dominguez name with quiet dignity and a very good sense of his own worth. He knew who he was, Everyone else met a real gentlemen. He was
respected as always rational, balanced, compassionate with unwavering strength. He took even the worst times in stride. People say he could ride. That he knew horses as well as he knew cows. On a trip to New Mexico while standing at the Rio Grande I could picture Valentin at dusk in the shadows riding the length of the river as his ancestors before him had done. Rest in peace Valentin....
