Debra A. Tanner, 51, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010.
Services were conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Debra, the daughter of Bill and Helen (Nelson) Murphy, was born June 21, 1959, in Sioux City. She received her schooling in Sioux City, graduating from Heelan High School in 1977. She went on to nursing school and obtained her registered nursing degree.

Debra married Craig Tanner on May 2, 1992. The couple made their home in Sioux City after their marriage. She worked at Matney Westside Nursing Home prior to and after becoming the director of nursing at Hallmark Care Center. She was most recently employed by Marion Health Center.

Debra was a very generous and loving person, who was always thinking of others. She enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling with her husband to the Black Hills. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Craig of Sioux City; a stepson, Adam Tanner of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a stepdaughter, Angela Tanner of Sioux City; a brother, Mike (Jan) Murphy of Hawaii; a stepbrother, Doug Watkins of Sioux City; a sister, Sharon Johnson of Omaha; three grandchildren, Austin, Hailey and Nathan; two nieces, Jennifer Thompson and Sarah (Willie) Chillous of Omaha; a nephew, Sean (Brandy) Murphy of Omaha; and her stepfather, Vern Watkins of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
