Louis "Lou" "Papa" R. Meyers, 70, of Boise, Idaho, born June 26, 1940, passed away at home on Friday, December 10, 2010.
Lou was the youngest of three children born to Elizabeth and Louis Meyers in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Austin Prep and graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1958. Lou served in the U.S. Navy for two years, and was appointed to the Detroit Police Department in 1963 where he later retired after 22 years of service. He retired from his second career with Ada County Planning and Zoning after 17 years. Lou married the love of his life, Ilene Depfer, in 1980. They moved to Boise, Idaho in 1985 where they built their mountain dream home in Wilderness Ranch and shared 30 years of wonderful memories.

Lou is survived by his wife Ilene, his four children and ten grandchildren, Greg (Jackie) Meyers - Sydney; Jeff (Marianne) Meyers - Margaret, Emma; Patti Garofalo - John, Lindsay, Jacob, Hunter; Diane (Derrick) Morris - Loren, Abby, Ethan; and his four-legged buddy Sammi.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty and Barbara.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Lou was a kind and generous person and had a tremendous influence on the lives he touched. He was a loyal Detroit Red Wings hockey fan who loved camping around the country and a stiff Manhattan. Papa we all love you and thank you for who you are and how you loved us. A celebration of Lou's life will be held later in the summer of 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Idaho Humane Society.
