Davenport - Graveside services for James F. Frett, of Davenport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Davenport American Legion Post 26. The family will greet friends from 12 Noon until service time at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. Mr. Frett died Friday, August 10, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, in Davenport.

James Francis Frett was born September 16, 1934, to Francis and Emelia (Nissen) Frett in Clinton, Iowa. He married Rosemary M. Langfeldt and later married Betty L. Buri July 26, 1980, in Davenport. She preceded him in death in April of 2001.

During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Frett served in the United States Army. Following his military obligations, he worked at the I-80 Tire Shop for 22 years and then spent the next 31 years at Oscar Mayer in Davenport retiring in 1996. James was a member of the Davenport Moose Lodge since 2004, was an avid gardener, and, was referred to as the neighborhood grampa. He truly enjoyed life to the fullest.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Evans; a son, Mark Frett; two stepdaughters, Connie Peek and Jackie Schroeder; four stepsons, Dennis Park, John Polasky, Mike Polasky and Steve Polasky; two sisters, Patricia Biddle and Marilyn Jacobsen; a brother, Wayne Frett; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by both of his parents. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the family.
