Elaine H. Patton, of 63 Oriole Avenue, Keene, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Cheshire Medical Center. She was sixty-nine years old.

Elaine was born in April 1941 to Herbert and Grace Van Zant Hatt in Cooperstown, New York. She graduated from Webster High School, and continued her studies in Music Education at Syracuse University, where she received a Bachelor of Music. She received her Master of Music: Music Education from Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, New York.

She was married to Bruce M. Koloseike for eleven years and has a daughter from that marriage, Katherine A. Koloseike of Dummerston, Vermont. In 1974, Elaine moved to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and later married Wayne Harris. Then in 1985, she married David L. Patton to whom she remained married until they were parted by his death in 2009.

Early in her career, Elaine taught music at schools in the Rochester area and then relocated, teaching music in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire. She taught the next twenty-five years of her career in the Pittsfield public school system, mostly at Pittsfield High School and South Junior High School (now Herberg Middle School). She was a beloved teacher and was thrilled to have recently attended the twenty-fifth reunion of Pittsfield High School's class of 1985. Elaine thoroughly enjoyed being a teacher, singing and playing the piano.

She was also very active in church activities at the First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield, singing in the choir, participating in the bell choir and as a soloist. She and David then attended the First Baptist Church in Pittsfield, where she was the choir director and David was the organist. After moving to Keene, Elaine joined the First Baptist Church and was attending bible study classes there.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Katherine; her brother, Winston C. Hatt; sister-in-law, Virginia K. Hatt; nieces, Jody Maxwell and Kelly Hatt; nephew, Greg Hatt; stepsons, David L. and Andrew Patton, and stepdaughter, Nancy Walsh. She was predeceased by her parents and husband David.
