Joseph had been a Wallingford resident for more than 40 years until moving to Delray Beach, Fla., 10 years ago. He recently returned to Connecticut. He was a private investigator in the Meriden-Wallingford area for many years and had also been the proprietor of the former Merchants Security Division in Meriden. Active in local and state Democratic Party activities, he served a term as State of Connecticut sealer of weights and measures as well as New Haven County deputy sheriff. A fourth degree Knight of Columbus, he was a member of the John Barry Assembly in New Haven. He was also a member of the Wallingford Lodge of Elks, the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 748 and the Wallingford Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne; a son, Joseph Montesi Jr.; a daughter, Dorothy Kovach; two stepsons, John R. Wolfe and James P. Wolfe; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Raymond (Judith) Matarazzo; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rose Guertin Misiaszek.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Church of Resurrection in Wallingford on Monday, November 20 celebrated by the Rev. Mark Bonsignore. Burial was private. Arrangements were under the care of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville, Connecticut.
