Born in Union City, Indiana, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Arthur. He attended the Harrisville Christian Church for many years. James was also a member of the Golden Eagle Lodge in Saratoga.
Survivers include his widow, Bessie; one son Carl Arthur; two daughters Mrs. G.M. Taylor of Saratoga and Mrs Ossie Green of Bluffton; one sister Mrs. Frank (Sarah Anna) Snyder and two brothers John Arthur of Detroit Michigan and Edward Arthur of Harrisville.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Saratoga Methodist Church with the Rev. John Watson officiating, assisted by Rev G. H. Miller. Buriel was in the Union City Cemetery. Brooks Funeral Home in Union City handled the arrangements.
