Calvin K. Sanders, who has been in the employ of Franklin McVeigh & company of Chicago for the past forty years and probably the oldest traveling man in Northern Illinois, died at his home at West Chicago last Wednesday of heart trouble. Less than a week previous to his death he was visiting customers on the road.

He was 73 years of age and leaves a wife and one daughter; the latter resides in Paris, France. He was a veteran of the Civil War serving in the 55th Illinois infantry.

The funeral was held at West Chicago Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Given that the wording of the obituaries is the same, it is difficult to determine the dates of death and of burial. Calvin could have died on April 13, 20, or 27, and he could have been buried on April 16, 23, or 30.

Joined 55th Illinois Infantry September 26, 1861. Mustered in October 31, 1861, at Chicago, Illinois. Discharged for disability January 5, 1863.
