He was born on September 18, 1935, in New London, Wis., son of the late Howard and Minnie (Korth) Brasure.
Garth grew up in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1953.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1953 and served aboard the Destroyer USS Baine as a signalman until his honorable discharge in 1956.
Garth married Mary Ann Walter on November 29, 1958, at St. Rose Catholic Church in the town of Lima.
After being married, they resided in Sheboygan County where they built a home on the family farm in the town of Lima. He worked for the State Foundry in Cedar Grove, and Myers Electrical Company in Milwaukee, Wis., before joining M.J. Electric Company in Iron Mountain, Michigan in 1968. In 1973, the family moved to Niagara Wis., to be closer to MJ's corporate office. Garth proudly worked for M.J. for 42 years. He traveled all over the country doing a job he truly loved. He worked with a lot of great and talented people whom he considered his friends.
Garth was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara, and the IBEW Electrical Union. He enjoyed many hobbies including spending time at his camp, hunting, fishing, especially salmon fishing on Lake Michigan with his family, and singing in the church choir.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Brasure; four sons, Todd (Patti) Brasure, Timothy Brasure, Thomas (Ann) Brasure, all of Niagara, Gregory (Katie) Brasure, of Racine, Wis.; two daughters, Mary "Terese" (Tony) Espe, of Onalaska, Wis., Suzanne (fiancé Timothy Schmitt) Brasure, of Green Bay, Wis.; one sister, Carol Jean (Ronald) Feldman, of Plymouth, Wis.; one sister-in-law Donna Poppenhagen, of Saratoga, CA; eleven grandchildren, Jason (Sarah), Derrick, Krissa, Timothy, Lanie, Paige, Brooke, Michael, Olivia, Emma, and Blake; one great-grandson, Landen; cousins, nephews, nieces, and many special friends.
Besides his parents, Garth was preceded in death by two infant sons; Gregory Girard and Thomas Robert; one brother-in-law, Bruce Poppenhagen; and one niece, Sherri Feldman.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2010, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. The American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136, Niagara, will coinduct a veteran's memorial service Thursday at the church. Rev. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Lima.
Pallbearers will be Garth's four sons, Todd, Timothy, Thomas, and Gregory, son-in-law, Tony Espe, and future son-in-law, Timothy Schmitt.
