Robert A. Bortner

GLEN ROCK – Robert A. Bortner, 69, of Glen Rock RD 1, died Tuesday at Colonial Manor. He was the widower of Madaline Krebs Bortner.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jacob's (Stone) Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service. The Geiple Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Glen Rock, has charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bortner was born in Jacobus, son of Flossie Fritz Bortner, Barrow's Convalescent Home, Dallastown, and the late Ammon S. Bortner.
A resident of Glen Rock for the past 50 years, Mr. Bortner was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of St. Jacob's Church and Sunday School. Before his retirement in 1975, he was employed by the P.H. Glatfelter Mills for 30 years.
He was also a member of the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Co.; Glen Rock Athletic Association; American Legion, Austin L. Grove Post 403, Glen Rock; Hanover Moose Lodge 227; Quarter Century Club of P.H. Glatfelter Co.; York County Chapter of the AARP; and had been past president of the Bortner Reunion Association.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children, Burnell R. Bortner, Railroad; Carole A. Creager, Glen Rock RD 2; five grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Bortner, McAllister Street, Hanover.
His pastor, the Rev. Richard C. Weaver, assisted by the Rev. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, will conduct the services.
