BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH of JOSEPH A. STORMS
The family came to Tippecanoe County, Indiana, in 1857, and settled in Wea Township, coming to Stockwell in 1861. His father, who married Rebecca Williams, was a native of Ross County, Ohio. Joseph A. was the only surviving child of his parents, a brother died in infancy. Joseph Storms was an active and enterprising young business man. He was in the grain business at Stockwell, Indiana in 1880, and in 1887 he built the elevator, which was furnished with an Atlas engine and boiler, and Barnard and Lee’s machinery, of Moline, Illinois. He had an extensive business, and in 1887 he shipped 100 car-loads of grain.
