Hazel Vivian McDormand Baker, 91, formerly of Chesapeake, passed away Jan. 18, 2002, at the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, Va. Born in Lynn, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Ethel Redding McDormand and was predeceased by her husband Johnie H. Baker and infant son, Johnie H. Baker Jr. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II and was very proud of her military service. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Methodist. The funeral was conducted in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Randy McMillen with eulogies by nephews, Ron Randolph and Dr. Bob Baker. Interment followed in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens and a reception was held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
