BARNWELL, age 26, farmer by occupation, was born in Crawford County, Missouri, and enlisted in the 8th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, USA, as a Pvt. in Company "K" on December 11, 1862 at Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Muster Roll Cards report him as Sick in Phelps County, Missouri in May and June 1863. Pvt. William O. Barnwell died June 23, 1863 in Maries County, Missouri at home of disease while on leave of absence. Casualty Sheet in files verify this documentation. Surgeon's Certificate states Death as due to Typhoid Fever also in file. - Ralph Biggs
