Funeral services for "Charlie" Charles G. Steed, 54, of Gainesville will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Don Westbrook officating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at the funeral home.
Charlie passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at the Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.
Charlie was born April 26, 1956 to Tom and Edalou Steed in Gainesville. He was a member of the Ducks Unlimted Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Charlie spent many hours doing what he loved, which was his taxidermy work. He worked earlier for many years at the Commerce Street Store. He was currently employed at the Walmart Distribution Center.
He is survived by his mother, Edalou Steed; sister and brother-in-law, Vickie Camp and Kevin; Glenda Steed; daughters, Becki and Kelli Steed; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Alicia Steed; grandchildren, Skylar Nottingham, Jaden Murrell, Braden Wetmore and Ryleigh Steed and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Steed and brother, Keith Steed.
Pallbearers will be Jim Lundberg, Rob Ferrell, Curtis Brooks, Ronnie Brooks, Bud Peters and Eugene Gilliland. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Bellows, Chuck Gamble, Jeff Hellman, Evan Purvis, Eric Ramsey and Calvin King.
