Olivia Koepp Altwein passed away on Dec. 8, 2010 at Eden Hill, New Braunfels, Texas. She was born in the farming community of Clear Springs, Guadalupe County, Texas to Franz and Anna (Kapitzcke) Koepp on April 11, 1917.
Olivia attended Clear Springs School and was confirmed in 1930 at First Protestant Church.
As a young woman, she frequently went dancing, accompanied by her brother and cousins, to dance halls in the local area. During this time, she met her future husband, Egon W. Altwein. They were married on June 25, 1938 by retired First Protestant Pastor Mornhinweg at his home in New Braunfels. Olivia was a devoted wife and mother, an excellent cook and baker, and a gardener who had plants blooming in her yard almost year around. Her most enjoyment came from playing cards and dominos with family and friends. In later years, she went to the Senior Center to visit with friends and play canasta. Olivia was preceded in death by her husband, Egon W. Altwein; her son-in-law, John A. Ruehle; two brothers, one sister and their spouses; and four sisters-in-law and their spouses.
