Virgil is single, 29 years of age and listed on his Missouri Death Certificate as being a laborer. He was the son of Joe and Fannie Pendleton Cavener.
Sadly, he took his own life by hanging himself. He was buried in Stone Cemetery under the direction of the Hurlbut Undertaking Company of Joplin.

Virgil Willis Cavener was born 25 Sep 1904 in Duenweg, Jasper County, MO to Joseph Larkin “Joe” and Fannie Pendleton Cavener. He had lived in Duenweg all of his life.

His father passed away 26 Jun 1916 in Joplin, Jasper County, MO. Virgil, his four brothers, two nieces, and one nephew where raised by his mother, Fannie Pendleton Cavener, and her second husband, Joseph P “Pete” Cantrell.

He graduated from Duenweg High School, Jasper County, MO, 15 April 1920. He had worked as a miner.

Virgil died 24 Nov 1933 in Duenweg, Jasper County, MO. He had been despondent of ill health. Services were held at Duenweg Baptist Church. Hurlburt Undertaking Company was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at Stony Point Cemetery (now known as Stone Cemetery), Diamond, Jasper County, MO.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Joseph Larkin “Joe” Cavener (1916); his brother, James Orville “Orville” Cavener (1929); and his sister in law, Rosa Ellen “Rosie” Case Cavener (1928).

Survived by: his mother, Fannie Pendleton Cavener Cantrell; his step-father, Joseph P “Pete” Cantrell; three brothers: Cordia Leon “Cordie”, Forrest Walter, and Morris Elwood “Elwood” Cavener; two nieces: Corrine Louise Cavener Boyd and Gloria Cavener Dodwell; and one nephew, Joseph Andrew “Andrew” Cavener.
