Jesse J. Anderson was born in 1813 in North Carolina. He came to Nevada, Vernon County, Missouri by the fall of 1840 with John Hale. Previous to this time, he and his family resided in Pulaski County, Missouri per the 1840 census records.

Sometime around 1833, Jesse met and married Sarah "Sallie" Hale. They had three sons, Andrew Monroe, William, and Robert Marion Anderson. Possibly their first born may have been a daughter. Eliza, but no further information has been found.

In 1844, Jesse J. Anderson was buried in the old graveyard called Hopkins, northwest of Nevada. Per a November 25, 1887 newspaper article, all of the burials in this old graveyard were removed and reburied in the Deepwood Cemetery, Nevada, Vernon County, Missouri in November, 1887. Cemetery records reflect Anderson as having died in 1844 and reburied at Deepwood in Nov 1887.
