Mrs. Gertie Adkins, 78 Meta, died Sunday at Charles E. Still Hospital. Mrs. Adkins was born Sept 16, 1895, the daughter of Mark and Almeta Ellis Vaugan. On Jan 19, 1913, she was married in Maries County to Andrew Adkins, who died Nov 18, 1957. Survivors include: two sons, Thurmond Adkins, Vienna and Melvin Adkins, Meta; three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Wallace, Curryville, Mrs. Evelyn Terwilliger, Eldon, and Miss Eunice Adkins, Iberia; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smyrna Church of Christ near Iberia with Brother Earl Joseph Dixon officiating. Burial will be in the Crismon Cemetery, Dixon. Arrangements are through the Birmingham Funeral Home, Vienna.
