Betty lived most of her lifetime in the Pella, Sully, and Eddyville areas. She graduated from Pella High School with the class of 1947.
On Sepbember 3, 1948, she was united in marriage with Henry Goodyk of Sully at her parents' country home near Pella. Betty and Henry were blessed with three daughters: Diane Ruth, Gloria Rose, and Marla Rae.
Betty made profession of her faith at an early age and was an active member of the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella where she was a member of the Christian Fellowship Society.
Betty was employed at various businesses: cook at Pella Community High School, clerk at Jaarsma Bakery, cleaned at the Long Term Care facility at the Pella Regional Health Center, and also worked in the hospital kitchen. She enjoyed quilting, games, reading, singing, and spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her three daughters and their husbands; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ruth Van Heukelom of Michigan; a special brother-in-law and friend, Gerrit Sneller, who visited and played cards; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Betty in death: her husband Henry on February 26, 1973; parents Gerrit and Winnie Van Heukelom; parents-in-law Johannes and Sadie Goodyk; son Paul Allen who died in infancy; two sisters: Annabell Sneller and Thressa Van Rees; and two brothers: Reverend Norman Van Heukelom and Reverend Raymond Van Heukelom.
