Joseph Blackburn Bertram, age 92, of the Susie community of Wayne County, passed away on Wednesday, May 7 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Somerset. He was born in Windy on February 7, 1905, the son of Lewis and Ellen Blevins Bertram. Both parents preceded him in death.

He married Eva Jewell Guffey, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by three children, Elsie Bertram and Helen Massengale, both of Monticello and Maxine Edwards of New Castle, Indiana; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are five sisters, Cora Stinson, Ida Davis, Lellys Dobbs, Hannah Rice and Maud Bertram.

He was a member of the New Charity Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 10 in the funeral home chapel with Brothers Koger Ramsey and Bill Sloan officiating. Burial was in Taylors Grove Cemetery.
