Beulah Elizabeth Bruce, 97, Rapid City died Thursday December 9, 2010, at Westhills Village Health Care. She was born to Joseph and Mildred (Marsden) Bruce on November 11, 1913, in Wasta. She graduated from Wasta High School and is a graduate of Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish. Beulah taught in several rural schools in Pennington County, Hill City, Sturgis and Everett, Washington. She moved to Cheyenne, WY where she taught in elementary school for 29 years. In 1994, Beulah moved to West Hills Village Retirement Home and in 2005 she moved to West Hills Village South Assisted Living Center. Beulah is a 50 year member of Oak Leaf Chapter #6, Order of the Eastern Star in Cheyenne, WY; Wyoming Retired Teachers Association; Life Member of the N.E.A.; Past President of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City. Beulah is survived by nephews Keith Mutchler (Sherry), Sturgeon Bay, WI; Charles Mutchler (Joan), Spearfish; Bruce Bailey, Boise, ID; nieces Beverly McCall, Boise, ID; Barbara Hall (Chris), Rapid City; sister-in-law Ruth Bruce, Rapid City and several grand-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wilma Mutchler and Catherine Bailey; her brother Charles Bruce; brothers-in-law Ralston Bailey and Norbert Mutchler; nephew Richard Bruce and grand-nephew Ian Mutchler.
Funeral services will be Tuesday December 14, 2010, at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to benefit the Shrine Travel Fund for Crippled Children.
