James Jackson Goodner, the son of Jacob and Hester (White) Goodner was born in Gallatin County, Kentucky, he came to Switzerland County, Indiana with his parents as an infant. He grew to manhood on the farm of his parents and remained a farmer all his life.
After his marriage he first resided in Dearborn County, Indiana, in the portion that in 1844
Was cut off into Ohio County. He married Sarah A. Miers (Myers) on 3 August, 1837 in Dearborn County, Indiana. They had 14 children. Mary Polly, Jane,James,William,Robert,
Permelia,John,Lucinda,Jackson,Ida,Flora,Joseph,Addie,Richard.
