Jedson was born Gedeon Bedard, but as was common at the time, his name was anglicized along with the rest of the family when Joseph and Emma brought their family to Franklin county for work.
Jedsons first job was as part of the crew building the International Paper Company mill in Piercefield. He was then hired on and worked his way up into a foreman position. In 1933, after 35 years of service the mill shut down and Jed went to work in the woods. He was killed on the job when a load of logs toppled onto him at Gilpin Bay on Lower Saranac Lake in 1939.
