Mrs. Vendetta "Detta" Hyer, 86, of Tulsa, Okla., and formerly of Michigan City, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at Oklahoma Methodist Manor, Tulsa.

She was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Michigan City to William and Leorah (Morris) Walker, and had also lived in Auburndale, Fla.

Mrs. Hyer was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for and being with her family. She also enjoyed crafts and bingo. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

On Jan. 19, 1940, she married Robert E. Hyer Sr., who died March 27, 1994.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Richard; four sisters; and three brothers.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Jr. (Sherry) of Tulsa and Ronald of Michigan City; 11 grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City.
