Graveside services for Ruth Virginia Custer, 89, of Kilgore will be held 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Danville Cemetery with the Reverend Ken Chin officiating. Mrs. Custer passed away Monday in Longview.

Ruth was born on July 20, 1921 in Kilgore to the late Howard and Mary Ida Perkins. Mrs. Custer was a member of the Forest Home Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a telephone operator and after retirement worked for several of the local answering services. Ruth enjoyed reading, attending gospel concerts and traveling.

Mrs. Custer is survived by her nieces Ella Ruth and her husband James Taylor of Kilgore, Jean and husband Perry Myers and Nelda and husband Alton Thompson.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and husband James Custer.

Pallbearers will be Ferell Perkins, Jody Sanders, Gary Thompson, Greg Thompson, Alton Thompson, Perry Myers and David Johnson.
