"UHAL RUTH HELMS, daughter of the late William F. and Addie Alverada Eoff Halmich, was born on March 6, 1919 at Sullivan, Missouri and departed this life on September 28, 1976 at Sullivan, Missouri; having attained the age of 57 years, six months and twenty-two days.
Uhal, as she was known to her family, was a life long resident of the Sullivan area, where she was an Avon representative. She professed her faith in Christ, was baptized and united with the First Baptist Church of Sullivan, Missouri, where she remained a faithful and devoted Christian until the Lord called her to Eternal Home. She was a member of the Sullivan Rebakah Lodge #319 I.O.O.F. of Sullivan, Missouri where she served as financial secretary for several years and was a Past Nobel Grand.
On November 20, 1937, she was united in marriage to Walter J. Helms and to this union, five chidlren were born.
Surviving her are: her hsuband, Walter J. Helms; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Waldo and husband, David, of Sullivan, Missouri, Mrs. Kay Shepherd and husband, Fred, of Quincy, Illinois; one son, W. James Helms and wife, Linda, of Sullivan, Missouri; four sisters, Mrs. Jean Nolie and husband, Joe, Miss Nancy Halmich and Mrs. Luella Carlton and husband, Robert, all of Sullivan, Missouri and Mrs. Juanita Eggers and husband, Fred, of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother, Warren Halmich and wife, Golda, of Sullivan, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Halmich of Sullivan, Missouri and Mrs. Bernice Guen of St. Louis, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Billy and Johnny Helms; one sister, Wilma Gerth and four brothers, Ray, Dale, Earl and Sanford Halmich.
A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She will be lovingly remembered by her loved ones and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 1976 from Hassebroek's Memorial Chapel with Rev. L.H. Owens officiating. Rebekah services were conducted at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 1976 by the Sullivan Lodge #319, I.O.O.F. of Sullivan, Missouri."
