George Parker Rites Are Today
Commerce-Funeral services for George L. Parker, 70*, of Commerce will be held at 2 p.m. in the Jones Memorial Chapel. The Revs. N.D. Gilmore and Bill King will officiate,
Mr. Parker died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday in a Dallas hospital.
Born Sept. 3, 1897,* in Tennessee, son of the late Isaac and Mary Carr Parker, he had been a resident of Commerce for 60 years. He was a veteran of World War 1.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. R.C. Tipton of Greenville and Mrs. Evelyn Carter of Commerce; five sons, Marvin Parker and John Parker, both of Commerce, Robert Parker and Wayne Parker both of Garland, and Preston Parker of Lubbock; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Crow of Commerce and Mrs. Mildred James of Roswell, N.M.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Rose Mound Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.
