Daughter of Amory (Emery) Butterfield and Polly Lamb.

From Tiffin Daily Tribune, December 6, 1919 - "EMILIE JANE LOYSON - Nee Emily Butterfield, Dies in the French Capital. - The following is a Paris dispatch dated December 4:
Emilie Jane Loyson, wife of the ex-priest, Charles Loyson, died Dec. 4. She was born in New York in 1833, the daughter of Amory Butterfield. Her first husband was Captain Edward R. Merriman, an American. On September 3, 1872, she was married in London to the then Father Loyson, known as Pere Hyacinthe, a well known French pulpit orator. He was chosen curate of the congregation of Liberal Catholics at Geneva in 1873 and founded 'Gallican' congregation at Paris in 1879. At the time of his marriage he was informed that he would sink into the position of a layman. He protested, however, and continued his 'Gallican' services at an Anglican Church at Neuilly.
The deceased was born in Melmore and was well known in Tiffin. The older residents will remember her. She had two brothers, C. W., and Captain Butterfield, the latter a member of the 8th Ohio. With her husband she visited this city in the early 80's and he made an address at the M. E. church. She was the author of several books and was a woman of ability."
