. WATERBURY - Donald Alfred Davis, Sr., 63, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Oshkosh, Wis. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010.

Born in Morrisville on Jan. 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Alfred N. and Irene (Graves) Davis.

Don was previously married to the former Barbara Page. Don was a 1965 graduate of Waterbury High School and continued his education in Boston, Mass., graduating in 1966 from the Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology. For over 20 years Don worked at Simmons Precision in Vergennes as a senior draftsman and computerized draftsman. Moving to Detroit, Mich., Don worked for Ford Motor Co. in engine design for six years before accepting a position with Volvo in North Carolina where he worked in aerodynamics for the tractor-trailer division. He later worked for Delphi in Chicago, Ill. doing design work and was currently employed by Defense Technology Engineering Oshkosh Corporation in Oshkosh, Wis., where he specialized in military vehicle design. Don had a passion for flying and fulfilled a lifelong dream by taking his first solo flight this year. A longtime Mustang enthusiast, he was a member of the Mustang Club of America. Don was a former assistant girls softball coach at Mount Abraham High School in Bristol and coached high school girl's softball while living in Michigan.

Don is survived by his children, Bobbi Jo Leddick and her fiancé, Gerard Capone, of Richford, Donald A. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Lily, of Bristol, and Leslie Davis and her companion, Gordon McNeice, of Bristol; his five grandchildren, Tiaunna, Page and William Leddick, Alex Capone, and Ryan Davis; three brothers, Ned Davis of Waterbury Center, Martin Davis of Waterbury Center, and Roy Davis of Covington, Ky.; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Don is lovingly remembered by his family and friends as someone they could always count on, and who was always there for them.

Funeral services will be held from the Waterbury Congregational Church on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Spring interment will take place in the Waterbury Center Cemetery.
