From Andrew Cain's History of Lumpkin County - First Hundred Years- Note: Andrew CAIN was County Historian for Lumpkin County
"Past the Century Mark, 12-6-1901. We find the following communication written by Dr. Howard, of Dahlonega, in a recent issue of the Wesleyan Christian Advocate: "Yesterday I went up near Porter Springs to have a talk with Mrs. Elizabeth Cain, the oldest Methodist, and perhaps the oldest woman in Lumpkin County. She was born the 28th day of July 1801, near Greenville, SC; therefore she was one hundred years old the past July. Her father was a Mr. Daniels and her mother's name was Self. When Miss Elizabeth Daniels grew up she married Benjamin Cain, and soon after this moved to Georgia. Her life has been principally spent in Union and Lumpkin Counties." "
In this interview Elizabeth also refers to Sarah Self/Daniel as "Miss Self"... a common "southern" way of referring to the wife of your father/ your step-mother.
