Martha Gertrude "Gertie" JOHNSON Agnew, daughter of Thorton H. and Viola Hooper Johnson was born September 3, 1886 in Iowa and died April 5, 1980 in Nodaway, Adams County, Iowa. Survivors include a son, John T. Agnew of Corning and two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Leona)Fickins of Red Oak and Viola Monson of Sheriton, Iowa, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
She became a member of the Nodaway Presbyterian Church at an early age and was a faithful member until moving to Villisca, where she continued to be active in the Villisca Church until her health failed.
Mrs. Agnew was a seamstress since the age of 17 and served for many people. She loved her home, church, and will be missed by many.
Funeral services were held at the Sutphen Funeral Home in Villisca, April 8, 1980 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Neal officiating. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery, Nodaway, Iowa.
